INS Kagul (1932-CA)
Following on from the experimental Krasny Kavkaz, the Kagul Class doubled the
number of guns to eight on a much bigger hull. The six ships were laid down 2
for the Baltic Fleet, 2 for the Black Sea Fleet and lastly 2 for the Pacific
Fleet. These were to be the biggest ships yet built by the Soviet Naval Yards.
The Western Powers classed these ships as Heavy Cruisers (CA) despite them only
having the 7.1"/180mm guns.
