OSCARS 09-09-2026

I arrived a bit later than normal and waved at my usual group as they headed off down the first hole. A whole new group for todays play. Jacko (14) and Jock (24) would be the opposition against John (19) and myself (15). John Hardie is the convenor of us old farts and runs both the Duckhook and Oscars competitions. Also a nice guy to play with. Didn't help as we eventually lost the beer on the 16th hole.

My days play was better than the last few rounds. My first score under 90 for some weeks. A good feeling. Still 2-3 shots out of the money, but it felt a whole lot better.

Only four pars for the day, but the number of 'other' scores was a lot less and I managed to get the double and triple bogeys down to just bogey (one over on the hole). The card is below.

My shot of the day was on the 17th hole when I got my tee shot to about 1.5 meters from the pin and had a good chance of birdie. Pulled the putt and watched it creep past the hole without falling in. Gutted.

The tale of the tape had me 11th out of 27 for Duckhook, and 20th out of 42 for Oscars. I shot an 87 for 32 points.

The weather was really nice and I took my fleecy top of on the third hole and basked in the sun.
