Having the major portion of the fleet overseas led to incursions into Murovian
waters, from what can only be described as pirates, trying to land and rob the
mining towns of their wealth. The need for a new 'coastal' cruiser was
pinpointed and put into production. The major innovation for the class was the
fitting of twin turrets for the 6" guns. One forward and one aft. They would be
the fastest cruisers built for the Amazonian Navy so far.
With the Eurylophe class ships on the job, piracy virtually disappeared from
around the continent of Mu. It would take a desperate pirate to take on the odds
of beating the anti-piracy patrols.
These four small cruisers were extremely useful and proved that the twin 6" was
a turret that could be used on light cruisers. These ships never got the chance
to be rebuilt, the war broke out with these ships being slated for rebuilds in
1940-41. Under Lend Lease, two of the class were sent north to America. What the
US sent back was completely different, but very capable.
All four ships survived the war. The two with the original armament were deleted
in the 1950's and scrapped. The US versions lasted into the 1960's when the 40+
year old ships were put out to pasture in a breakers yard.
